samurai swords ... Long story short. The katana has a curved blade that improves cutting capabilities of the sword, is a high quality item that can remain sharp even after being used for longs periods of time...but it's slow and hard to produce, requiring months after months of hard work by numerous people. It was also heavier and in order to be used properly needed a long training. The longsword had longer reach, was lighter (Yeah believe it or not they are not made to weight more than 2 kg on average), was far more flexible thus preventing breakdowns. It was also fairly simple to learn requiring no more than 50 hours to get a man battle ready and with an edge over anyone who has not trained. Also the longsword is far simpler to create than the katana allowing for a mass production. If a katana and a longsword met edge to edge, their wielders will be idiots as noone actually parries with the edge of the sword as that is practically too damaging for the blade and useless. Now stop arguing which is better because the longsword was ment to be mass used by men at arms and knights alike, mass production, durability, easy training and use and versatility being it's good sides, being able to cut and stab alike. On the other hand the katana was a symbol of power and later the spirit of the warrior. It was a great weapon able to take down an armored man with a single swing where a longsword would find it just a tad harder. Both were efficient in their roles and respective types of warfare. Now shush and buy both a longsword and a katana. (Before you call bullshit on anything I've said, train to use either of those swords first. I have several months of training with both and I have a bit of knowledge regarding the matter. If you are more knowledgeable than me in this matter please do correct me (knowledge gained solely from the internet does not count)). swords for sale
